Overview

The Vehicle Service Technician (VST) is responsible for ensuring all ambulances and response vehicles are clean, stocked, safe, and in proper working condition to support daily operations. The VST will also maintain the supply room and facilitate filling supply and equipment requests. They will assist the Logistics Supervisor in the transportation and delivery of units for repairs when needed. This role plays a critical part in maintaining readiness by performing routine inspections, basic maintenance, and equipment checks while ensuring compliance with company policies and state regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean, sanitize, and restock ambulances and response vehicles after each transport or shift
  • Mechanical check off of vehicle. (Checks mechanical fluid levels, tires, and operational status of all lights and equipment)
  • Inspect vehicles and equipment to ensure operational readiness and report deficiencies
  • Vehicle inventory check/restocking of supplies and equipment requisitioning supplies for replacement
  • Ensure deep cycling of monitor batteries as required.
  • Document condition of ambulance and equipment when turned in by crews at the end of their shifts reporting any damage to units or equipment.
  • Complete required documentation and inspection logs accurately and timely
  • Transport vehicles to and from service facilities as needed
  • Assist field crews and supervisors as needed to support operations
  • Must be professional and appropriately dressed at all times. 
  • Any other duties assigned.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear
  • Ability to bend and stoop, sit and stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift, carry, and balance 110 pounds and exert on a regular basis 50 pounds of force and at times up to 100 pounds.
  • Possess hand-eye-foot coordination, color recognition, close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, good manual dexterity, with the ability to perform all tasks related to Vehicle Service Technician duty.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • At least 1 years' experience servicing vehicles including knowledge of fluid levels, tire pressure and operational status of lights and equipment
  • Ability to multi-task and work under time constraints.
  • Ability to safely operate the ambulance vehicle
  • Basic computer operational understanding.

 

Certification & Licensure Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent qualification
  • Emergency Medical Technician certification or demonstrated EMS knowledge.
  • Current CPR: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Valid State driver's license
  • Driving Record in compliance with state regulations and company policy
  • Emergency Vehicle Operator Cours (EVOC) or equivalent certification (can be obtained through AmeriPro)
  • Insurable under AmeriPro policy and standards of operation
